Liz Mark has been a member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown for 10+ years. In that period of time, she has held several positions in Rotary: Club President in 2018-2019, District 5150 Assistant Governor in San Francisco County from 2019 to 2021, and Club Secretary since 2021. Liz continues to be one of the driving forces of her Club's community service projects in and around San Francisco, and she will be Co-Club-President in 2023-2024. Liz is also part of District 5150’s RYLA youth leadership camp as one of the on-staff nurses and continues to support other committees of our District.
Liz caught the international service bug when she participated in her first experience in Guatemala with Hug It Forward in 2015. From there, she has participated in several international service projects for H2OpenDoors. These projects have taken her to Guatemala three times, India, Uganda, and Kenya. And soon, she will be heading out to Guatemala again, leading the two Reading Glass Clinics to give approximately 600+ pairs of reading glasses to the local indigenous population at the Lake Atitlan area.
Cameron House provides a wide variety of programs for Asian youth and families of San Francisco such as counseling, domestic violence intervention, after-school youth programs, and summer programs. In her youth, Liz attended Cameron House. Now she is giving back by serving on the Board of Directors and actively seeking contributions for Cameron House.
Liz recently retired after over 40 years as a registered nurse with UCSF. She started playing again the violin that she had started in middle school and can be found performing in San Francisco with both professional and amateur musicians.
Liz’s constant smile and positive attitude are infectious to all. If you ever need someone for help and support, Liz is always there in a heartbeat. When Rotarians are working on a project, Liz is there until the very end and does not leave anyone behind. We at the Rotary Club of San Francisco Chinatown are honored to have her as our valued member. Liz Mark is most deserving to be recognized as District 5150’s Rotarian of the Month for January 2023!
